Safety standard

What goes in your boat. In writing.

The chemistry, the system that watches it, the standard we install to, and the paperwork you hand your insurer. All four, on every boat.

01 · Chemistry

LiFePO4. The stable one.

Lithium iron phosphate holds its shape under heat and load. It is the chemistry most marine lithium installs use, and the one we use on every boat.

  • Thermal runaway threshold about [X] °C
  • Rated for [X] cycles to [X]% capacity
  • Cells from [Manufacturer pending]
02 · Battery management

A system that watches every cell.

The battery management system reads voltage, current, and temperature on each cell. If anything leaves its safe range, it disconnects the bank.

  • Over and under voltage cutoff
  • High and low temperature cutoff
  • Short circuit and over current cutoff
03 · Install standard

ABYC E-13, on every boat.

ABYC E-13 is the American Boat and Yacht Council standard for lithium batteries on boats. It covers how the bank is mounted, fused, wired, and labeled.

  • Fused at the battery, cable sized to load
  • Bank secured against movement in a seaway
  • Every circuit labeled at the panel
04 · Paperwork

Proof you can hand over.

When we finish, you get a packet that shows what went in and how. Keep it with the boat papers. Send a copy to your insurer.

  • Wiring diagram for your boat
  • Component list with certifications
  • Installer sign-off, dated
Your insurer packet

Hand it over. Done.

Insurers ask what changed on the boat. This packet answers before they ask. You get it the day we finish.

Safety questions

What owners ask about lithium

All questions

LiFePO4 is the most stable lithium chemistry in common use. It resists overheating far better than the lithium in phones and laptops. Paired with a battery management system and installed to ABYC E-13, it is built for marine use.
